I wanted to follow-up on this message from Marc Fisher, Vice Chancellor, Administration that provided additional information about the central processing of formal wage claims related to Senate Bill (SB) 698. As Marc states, our BRS regional HR and Central HR teams are continuing to fine-tune processes as more information is received from the Labor Commissioner’s Office.

In preparation for curtailment, Purchasing will stop processing low-value orders (less than $10K) after Friday, December 13th but will continue to process all other requests until Friday, December 20th. Purchasing will resume on Thursday, January 2nd.
This is the first year of BearBuy auto-approvals which means shoppers should be mindful of the campus closure before sending a purchase order to a supplier to avoid lost or returned packages or prevent temperature-sensitive chemicals from spoiling.

Last month, you received a campus email outlining this year’s curtailment date impacts for Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) and the Controller’s Office processing timeframes. I am writing today with a reminder about the BRS HR-related deadlines as departments/units will experience earlier-than-usual deadlines for HR-based transactions. This is due to multiple UCPath December lockout periods (12/5-9 & 12/18-22) coupled with the curtailment/winter break period.

Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) is observing the annual closure of campus to conserve energy which will occur this year between Monday, December 23, 2019 and Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
