We are following up on our email of 02/24/20 to share additional details around 2020 Summer Sessions Hiring Processes.
What’s new this year

We are launching a new eHire system with streamlined process and easy-to-follow form and status tracking.

We are implementing DocuSign to collect signed Agreement Letters.

We are sharing more information on the requests you submit so that you can track and follow what’s going on with your department’s hires on your own.

We are launching a new website where you will find most up-to-date information and details related to Summer Sessions hiring.
What’s still the same
-
If you had access to the legacy eHire, you should have access to the new eHire.
Submitting hire requests

eHire is now available and you can login to begin entering requests. If you do not have access, please send an access request.

Remote Onboarding

Under the current COVID-19 shelter-in-place order, Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) is conducting remote onboarding for all new employees while this order is in effect; this includes Summer Sessions hires needing onboarding. You can find information about the remote onboarding process on the Berkeley Regional Services Central Services website. Once the order is lifted, these processes will be revisited.

It is important to adhere to the appropriate deadlines to ensure on-time pay and system access for new employees.
More details about this year’s process(and good news is that much has stayed the same as last year):

When you need assistance, Summer Sessions will continue to assist you with eHire system/access or if you have any finance questions. Summer Sessions will also continue to create and issue all agreement/offer letters.

BRS will still be your point of contact after the offer has been accepted in eHire and is responsible for all on-boarding activities and payroll/timekeeping transactions.

It continues to be the department's responsibility to ensure that a potential employee's visa status is valid for employment at UC Berkeley.

Please use the salary rate in effect June 30, 2020 when making appointment requests. You will find thesalary scales on the APO website
Some useful reminders:

To reduce risks of any overpayments or impacts to our students, please remember to contact Summer Sessions whenever a scheduled session is being cancelled. Summer Sessions will proactively contact the registered students and BRS can ensure payroll is not generated.
